Jaynes was born in Trumann and had lived his lifetime in Trumann. He was a retired businessman and land developer who throughout his life, farmed, owned and operated businesses including the Maxie Theatre in Trumann and the Avon Theatre in West Memphis. He was a cattle rancher, and sold grain bins, he was a 50 year member of the Trumann Masonic Lodge 693 where he served as Master Mason. Mr. Jaynes was the 1985 Arkansas State Senior Pool Champion, an airplane pilot and loved to hunt, read and play pool. Mr. Jaynes was a veteran of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Columbus and Alice May Jaynes; one sister and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Marcelyn "Marcie" Jaynes of the home; three sons, Fred and wife, Bonnie, Jaynes of Trumann, Dennis and wife, Regina, Jaynes, and John and wife, Tammy, Jaynes all of Jonesboro.; one daughter, Karen Soward of Trumann; four grandchildren, John P. Soward, Zachary Jaynes and wife, Jennifer, Colton Jaynes, and Darbi Jaynes; two great-grandchildren, Haley Noll and Preston Zell Jaynes.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 26 at the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann, with Rev. Kenny Guy McMahan officiating.
Burial followed in the Jonesboro Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers were Jiles Pagan, Lloyd Pagan, Bobby Benson, Lester Bradford, Laroy McCann and Brent Baker.
Honorary pallbearers were Donnie Taylor, Luther Blagg, Gaylon Bridges, and David Dowdy
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trumann Public Library or the Eastside Baptist Church in Trumann.
