Mildred Norene Gaskins

Mildred Norene Gaskin, 83, of Lake City died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 at her home. She was born Feb. 19, 1924 in Cross County.

She married Chester Gaskins on Sept. 30, 1943 and they enjoyed 64 years together before his death on July 11, 2007. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of God in Harrisburg. She loved sewing and quilting.

She was receded in death by her parents, Robert Hoots and Bessie Hodge Hoots; her husband; two sons, Ondeal Gaskins and Richard Gaskins; one infant daughter and seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by four sons, Charles Gaskins of Fisher, John Hoots of Michigan, James Gaskins of Lake City and George Hoots of Michigan; four daughters, Bobbye Bronkhort of Michigan, Brenda Tomky of Lake City; Mollie Hoggard and Linda Hoezee, both of Michigan; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Church of God in Harrisburg with Rev. John Honeycutt and Rev. Dale Walton officiating. Interment followed in Eight Mile Cemetery at Beedeville under the direction of Weston Funeral Service of Harrisburg.

Pallbearers were John Hoots, Charles Hoots, Norman Hoots, Paul Hoots, Harold Hoots and Gene Lowery. Honorary pallbearer was Tim Hicks. Memorials can be made to the Church of God, 403 W. Peck Road, Harrisburg, AR 72432.
