Margaret Whitman, 79, died Monday, January 28, 2008 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born on Friday, January 18, 1929, the daughter of the late William Curtis and Annie Skaggs Harrell. She was a lifetime resident of Trumann, a retired nurse and of the Assembly of God faith.

Mrs. Whitman was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Whitman, one son, H.L. Whitman Jr., and her parents.

Survivors include two sons, William Whitman of Paragould and Stephen Whitman of Colorado Springs, Col.; two brothers, Pierce Harrell of Modesto, Calif., and Robert Harrell of Jonesboro; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Thursday, Jan. 31 at the Marked Tree Cemetery in Marked Tree with Rev. Mike Sutton officiating. Burial followed under the directions of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann.

Pallbearers were Keith Whitman, Brett Whitman, Mike Sullivan, Gary Burgess, Barney Whitman and Fred Whitman.
