Jordan Henderson signs with Hendrix Warriors

Tuesday, March 25, 2008

Jordan Henderson, a North Little Rock native, has committed to play basketball for the Hendrix Warriors next year. A 5'7" combo guard, the 18-year-old has played basketball for the Central Arkansas Christian (CAC) Lady Mustangs during her high school career. She has been a starter for the Lady Mustangs for the past two years.

During her three year period as a varsity Lady Mustang, CAC won three conference and regional championships and made three trips to the final four including two state championships. The team compiled a record of 92 wins and 12 losses during the past three years. Henderson led the team in assists and in free throw percentage while scoring 8.5 points per game.

Henderson was named All-Conference in 2007 and 2008. She was named to the McDonald's Shootout All-Tournament Team and invited to play in the All-Metro game in Central Arkansas. In addition, Henderson has competed against the top high school teams in the nation having played in the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz.

She also played on the CAC volleyball team which made three state tournament appearances. She was also a member of the CAC soccer team which won two state championships and appeared in three state tournaments.

Henderson has maintained a grade point average of 3.78 while taking many advanced placement and college credit courses while participating on CAC's varsity basketball, volleyball and soccer teams.

Henderson said she chose Hendrix College because it is a top academic institution of higher education in the mid-south region. She also chose Hendrix because of the exciting style of basketball which the school plays.

"I have watched them play a couple of times this year," Henderson said. "Coach Hitchcock plays an up-tempo style similar to CAC and he has some very talented players coming back."

She also thinks Hendrix will win some championships in the future. "Competing is about winning championships and I believe Hendrix will win several championships before I graduate."

Henderson is the daughter of Michael and Kim Henderson, graduates of Central High School near Trumann. She is the granddaughter of Quention and Betty Fletcher of Trumann and the late Warren and Melba Henderson of Trumann.
