He was born in Jonesboro and was a lifelong resident of Trumann. A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a Nike Missile repairman during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Arkansas State University, and he taught agriculture at the Weiner, Harrisburg and Miss County School district prior to being self employed.
He was preceded in death by his father Fred Stotts; his grandparents, Louis and Mae Garrett Stotts, D.M. and Susie Merrell Lafarlette.
He is survived by his fiancée, Brenda Golden of Trumann; two sons Jon Paul and wife, Heather Stotts, of Jonesboro and Scott Stotts of Washington; his mother, Lillian Stotts George of Trumann; sister, Janice and husband, Jessie Mitchusson, of Trumann; one brother, Mike Stotts of Trumann; two grandsons Garrett DeWayne and Jackson Paul Stotts; two adopted grandchildren; two nieces, Beth and Audra Hervey; one nephew, Robert Hervey; several aunts; uncles; cousins and many friends.
Funeral services were Friday, May 23 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Floyd, Rev. Terry Wayne George and Rev. Darrell Miller officiating. Burial followed in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro.
Pallbearers were Jason Marshall, Gordon Lafarlette, Dennis Pankey, Robert Hervey, Joe Underwood and Rodney Stotts.
Honorary pallbearers were J.W. Roden, Herman Robertson, Jimmy Lafarlette, Bob Hervey, Doug Pankey, Gerald Barker and James McQuay.
