Information sought about Poinsett County veterans

Barbara and Danny Adams of Marked Tree are working to located all Poinsett County veterans along with their relatives and friends. The Moving Vietnam Memorial Wall will be coming to Marked Tree In September, and the Adams want to compile a list of veterans to honor. The veterans will be listed and photos submitted will be displayed at the event.

Veterans of their family members are asked to submit the veteran's name, branch of service, and years served along with their date of birth and date of death if they are deceased. Please note if the veteran was killed in action (KIA), died of wounds (DOW), had disease from non-combat (DNB) and foreign object damage (FOD). Also send a brief description of the veteran's service such as wartime, peacetime, place stationed, metals and other honors awarded.

Photos and information should be mailed to Danny Adams, P.O. Box 302, Marked Tree, AR 72365.

As a veteran of the Viet-Nam conflict, I would be honored to register, My name is Larry N. Porterfield, born and raised in Trumann drafted in

Jul of 1966, Served in Viet-Nam from Feb66 to Mar68. recieved the purple heart for wounds recieved in combat during flight operations as a door machine gunner, Jul69-Jun72 combat support Bangkok,Thailand. Jul73-Jun75 Tongdechon Korea Convoy driver. retired from the 1437 Eng. Bat USNG

in Sault Ste Marie, MI. My Father Floyd Neal Porterfield (deceased) served w/the United states Navy aboard the USS Lexington CV6 Pacific Operations, and the USS Johnston (DD) My Mother Nita Jo Porterfield still resides in Trumann along with my Brother Ricky "Petey" wife Charlotte

and my Sister Diane Carr, I now reside in Rudyard MI with my wife Donna I am retired from the US Army & the MIch Dept of Corrections. I am employed by the US ARMY CORPS of ENGNEERS as a Security Officer. Its a great honor to be named among the best who has payed the greatest price for freedom.......
