Students should be attending classes in the new Trumann High School by January of 2009, according to Trumann School Superintendent Joe Waleszonia.
"Our goal is to get moved into the building over Christmas break of 2008," he said. "And, hopefully, our students will be in classes there in January."
Waleszonia said the contractors are making real progress with the new complex of buildings on West Main Street after having aproblem getting materials earlier in the year.
"That is no longer an issue," the superintendent said. "But it has definitely delayed the project."
Workers planned to start putting the steel in place for the gymnasium Tuesday (July 22).
Then will concentrate on getting the buildings roofed before the summer is over.
"We should have the roof on the auditorium done by the middle of August," he said. "All roofing, including the gym, should be done by the end of August. We are getting to the point where we shouldn't have any problem with inclement weather in the fall, because all of the buildings should be under roof by then. Completion of all drywall and painting can be done regardless of the weather."
The majority of the drywall in the academic wing is complete and painting was begun on some of the halls and classrooms Monday.
"We will be meeting this week to finalize all of the interior colors for the building. This will include walls, doors, woodwork, floor tile and carpet," Waleszonia said, then added.
"We should be able to make up a little time now. But, at the same time, we don't want a hurried up job. We want to maintain quality construction on the project."
Work on the parking lot of the new school should begin soon. Light posts will be put up and more gravel will be added to the parking lot eventually. Crews will be pouring the inside curbs around the building, and sidewalks and walkways in the next few weeks.
The building site is bustling with approximately 150-200 construction workers on site daily.

So many memories in the old school! It will never be forgotten!! In the 90's Mr. Massey had the THS band @ #1 in the nation! I am one of the proud members of that era and I will never forget performing in front of our home crowd and knocking their socks off! lol I'm proud that Trumann is getting a new school and hopefully it will be as memorable as the old one to all of the students that attend it!
