Alvin Eugene Davis

Alvin Eugene Davis, 91, of East Prairie, Mo., formerly of Trumann, died at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008 in the Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Sept. 18, 1916 in Manila, to the late James Abner and Mamie Mary Elizabeth Smith Davis, he had lived in Mississippi County since 1966 moving from Trumann. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith. In 1939, he married Maudie Myrle Ware who preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 1985. On August 11, 1988 he married Ruby Hager who survives of the home.

Besides his wife, survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Harold and LaVera Davis of Little Rock; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Wallace Kellams of Portageville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Ben and Kristen Kellams of Portageville, Emily Kellams of Jackson, Mo., and Lauren Kellams of Columbia, Mo.; three step-sons, David Irby of St. Charles, Mo., Larry Gene Irby of Kirkwood, Mo., and Richard Irby of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and a host of relatives and many friends.

One grandson, Kirk Davis, preceded Davis in death as did three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 19 in the Shelby Chapel with Bro. George White officiating. Burial followed in the Dogwood Cemetery with Shelby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were: Ricky Ashcrat, Gene Cade, Kenny Keck, Jon Hutcheson, Rowe Jackson, Larry Irby and Richard Irby.
