Trumann School Superintendent Joe Waleszonia's office has released the following information for students and parents.
Pre-school
The Arkansas Better Chance for School Success Pre-School Program is located at 144 North Magnolia. The WeeCat pre-school program will be accepting up to 80 students on a first-come, first-serve basis. Children who are five years old by Sept. 15 are not eligible for the WeeCat program. To be eligible, children must be three or four years old and come from families with gross incomes not exceeding 200% of the federal poverty level.
Applications are available at the superintendent's office and at Cedar Park Elementary. Applications must be completed by Aug. 1
Registration
Two days, Monday, Aug. 4 and Tuesday, Aug. 5, have been chosen for registration for students who are new in the district. All new students should register between 8 a.m. and noon or 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the principal's office of their respective schools.
New students in kindergarten through fourth grade should register at Cedar Park Elementary School. New students in grades five and six should register at Central Elementary School. New students in grades seven through 12 should register at Trumann High School.

Open houses
The Cedar Park Elementary and WeeCat Academy (PreK-4) open house will be held from 5 -- 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14. Student classroom assignments will be announced at that time.
Central Elementary School (fifth and sixth grade) will hold its open house from 6:30 -- 7:30 Thursday, Aug. 14.
Orientation
Seventh grade orientation is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. All students who will be in the seventh grade and parents of seventh grade students should attend the orientation.
Schedules and lockers will be distributed at this orientation session. Shorts and t-shirts for physical education will be sold at this session. Prices will be $8 for t-shirts and $7 for shorts.
Locker rental, schedule pickup
Students who attended the Trumann School District in grades seven through 11 last year (grades eight through 12 this year) or those who have already pre-registered should report to Trumann High School to receive schedules and locker assignments on Monday, Aug. 4 and Tuesday, Aug. 5 between 8 a.m. and noon or 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Locker rental will be $5 per student for junior and senior high school students.
Bus Routes
Buses will run the same routes with the same morning times as in the past year. Buses will leave Central Elementary School at 2:55 p.m. and will arrive at Cedar Park Elementary at approximately 3:10 p.m. and Trumann High School at 3:20 p.m. Dismissal times for the schools are as follows: Central Elementary, 2:55 p.m.; Cedar Park Elementary, 3:15 p.m.; and Trumann High School 3:25 p.m.
Teachers will arrive at 7:45 a.m. and leave at 3:45 p.m.
Transportation to Central Elementary for fifth and sixth grade students will be provided. Students who wish to ride the bus will be required to meet in the high school gym no later than 7:45 a.m. each morning. In the afternoons, buses from Central Elementary will first stop at Cedar Park Elementary School before going to the Trumann High School campus. Students who need to switch buses will do so at this time.
Sixth graders who select band will go the Trumann High School band room at 7:45 a.m. each day for band. The students will then be transported to Central Elementary School at 8:25 a.m.
Who can ride the bus
Highway 463 is considered the dividing line for walkers. If students live on the Cedar Park side of the town, then they will get off at Cedar Park Elementary. If the live on the Trumann High School side of town, they will get off at the high school.
Students are not allowed to get off at Cedar Park and walk over the walkway unless they are escorting smaller brothers or sisters. If this is the case, a note must be on file in the principal's office at Central Elementary School. Car riders may be picked up at Cedar Park Elementary or Trumann High School.
Breakfast/Lunch
Breakfast and lunch prices remain the same for the 2008-2009 school year and will be as follows: Student breakfast, $1.50; student lunch, $1.75; adult lunch, $2; adult lunch, $3; A la carte: milk, 20¢; bread, 40¢; meat, $1.75; vegetable, 75¢, dessert,75¢; fruit, 75¢. Reduced breakfast is 30¢ and reduced lunch is 40¢ as set by the state. Lunch and breakfast will be served the first day of school.
