Janice Thorn Smith, 67, of Trumann died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Trumann Sept. 26, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Norf and Deedie Slatton Thorn. She was a lifetime resident of Trumann, a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Trumann.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorse Wayne "D.W." Smith in 2003; her parents, one sister, Sylvia Ballard; and one brother, Alfred Thorn.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Trish and Bryan Tucker of Trumann; two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny "Bub" and Debbie Smith and Billy Wayne and Susan Smith all of Trumann; five grandchildren, Jennifer Davis, Amanda Hartleroad, Leslie Burrow, Danielle Walters, and Hollie Tucker and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 18 at First Baptist Church in Trumann, with Dr Tad Rogers officiating. Burial followed in the Nettleton Cemetery of Jonesboro.

Pallbearers were Ricky Wright, Mike Hamilton, James Pagan, Jackie Smith, Lee Ballard, and Donnie Pipes. Honorary pallbearers included the First Baptist Church family.

Lasting memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
